Jon Lester Headed To The AL Central?

Sorry Minnesota Twins fans, but as great as it would be for the former Red Sox ace Jon Lester to be headed to Target Field, it doesn’t look like it’s going to happen. However, Minnesota may have to look forward to facing him more often than in previous years if he ends up in the division. It now appears that it could be a possibility.

Robert Murray of MLB Daily Rumors is reporting that Jon Lester is drawing some significant interest from the Kansas City Royals. After making a significant move in acquiring James Shields, the Royals have shown they can pull big moves off. Now it looks like Lester may be the next big name in with Shields moving on through free agency.
Lester would obviously be the immediate ace for the Kansas City Royals in 2015. With the emergence of Yordano Ventura, the Royals would have arguably one of the best combinations of top starters in the division.
Minnesota is still looking for starting arms through free agency, but it doesn’t appear that the Twins are in on any frontline names. Having been linked to Justin Masterson, it appears the Twins are comfortable riding the strength of Phil Hughes and hoping for a strong contribution from at least one other pitcher.
