Glynn has been a long-time fixture as both a first and third base coach for multiple organizations including the Rockies, Expos, Cubs, and Giants, so it’s a role that he knows well and his transition should be a smooth one onto the big league staff. Having managed the Red Wings since 2012, he has close ties to many on the staff and roster so his promotion doesn’t come as too much of a surprise. It was disclosed that Glynn was a finalist for the manager position eventually given to Paul Molitor. With this move, there is now an opening at Rochester for their manager position. Look for the Twins to promote Fort Myers manager Doug Mientkiewicz to fill that spot. Mientkiewicz was also in the running for the Twins’ manager spot and reportedly impressed Terry Ryan during the interview process. Putting him in AAA brings him that much closer to attaining a Major League manager position that Ryan says Mientkiewicz is “very close” to being ready for. Until next time…
