It hasn't been the greatest of weeks for Minnesota Twins fans. The Pohlad family announced that they will be remaining the principal owners of the team in an announcement that felt like the rug had been pulled out from underneath the fanbase. The promise Twins fans once had of there being an overhaul to everything that has plagued the organization over the last year was quickly shot down with the realization that the light at the end of the tunnel, an ownership change, was no longer visible.
That is why, despite the frustrations the fanbase has with Rocco Baldelli, they likely related to the outburst the Twins manager had on Thursday night.
In the 11th inning of their extra-inning loss to the Detroit Tigers, Twins catcher Ryan Jeffers seemingly fouled a ball off while batting with a 0-2 count. It appeared that the ball hit the ground before going into the glove of Tigers catcher Dillon Dingler. Instead, the home plate umpire ruled that Dingler caught the ball, and Jeffers was ruled out. Needless to say, Baldelli lost his mind.

It feels like this time of eruption from Baldelli was only a matter of time. Baldelli saw nearly half of his roster moved at the trade deadline, and despite what the Pohlad family says, it seems that the Twins are far away from returning to contention in the AL Central. Not that the Twins' fire sale has a direct impact on Baldelli's job status, as the Twins leaked earlier this season that his 2026 option has already been exercised.
Between now and the end of the season, there likely won't be many bright moments for Twins fans. For a team that once had the talent to be at the top of the division, the Twins have become the doormat for the division. Facing that reality, on Thursday night, every Twins fan saw a little of themselves in Baldelli's outburst.
