The shockwaves are still being felt from the stunning announcement from the Pohlad family earlier this week, announcing that they will be remaining as the principal owners of the Minnesota Twins. The decision quite literally goes against every decision that has been made by the Twins' front office over the last year, and the ones who cover the team are making sure to take out all of the receipts.

Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic didn't hold back when talking about the failures of this process.

"Sadly, dark times are something Twins fans have gotten used to under this ownership. In this case, instead of moving or contracting the team, the Pohlads have removed the resources needed to build winning rosters and are now stripping the franchise for parts to pay off their debt. Twins fans have long deserved better, but the fear is they’re about to get worse."

Making things even worse was the fact that the Twins were close to Justin Ishbia becoming the majority owner of the team. Instead, Ishbia walked away from the deal during the offseason and has since entered a long-term agreement with the Chicago White Sox.

Gleeman channeled the frustration that most Twins fans are feeling right now. Looking back no further than the trade deadline, there is a serious question as to what the plan is moving forward.

The statement released by the Pohlad family reads as if the Twins are ready to return to contention. That goes against every move the front office made at the deadline. And every move they wanted to make, as they likely would have traded Byron Buxton if he were willing to waive his no-trade clause, and Joe Ryan if they had more time to work out a deal with the Boston Red Sox.

The Twins were once the proud franchise of the American League Central, but they have quickly become a laughingstock. The Pohlad family remaining in place will do nothing to change that reputation unless fans finally get the action they have been begging for.
