The Minnesota Twins have a wealth of outfield depth within their Minor League system. One rising prospect has placed himself on the Twins radar for the 2018 season.
LaMonte Wade has opened eyes all Spring for the Minnesota Twins. He has hit .304 in 32 plate appearances during Spring Training. Wade also has a robust .469 on-base percentage thanks to drawing eight walks.
He enters the 2018 season ranked 16th in the Minnesota Twins system, according to MLBpipelines. Wade has been a steady hitter throughout his Minor League career and is on the cusp of making it to The Show.
He has a career .295/.404/.437 slash line in the Minors and made the Southern League All-Star team during the 2017 season. Wade has an advanced feel at the plate and has more career walks(177) than he does strikeouts(151). That’s unheard of in this day and age and Wade has bright future ahead of him.

Does that future begin during 2018?
Eddie Rosario has already missed time during Spring Training for the Minnesota Twins. It’s a long season, and injuries will happen, so Wade should get an opportunity this Summer. However, Wade will need to prove that he can hit at the Triple-A level before he will have a shot in MLB.
Wade will open up the season in Rochester and he’ll continue to do what he has always done. He is an on-base machine, and if he can develop a little power, he will be a force in the Majors.
Wade can also play all three outfield positions competently and will make for a good fourth outfielder in the future. Max Kepler will need to step up this season in order to keep the starting job in right field. Wade and another prospect Zack Granite are both rising through the system quickly.
The Minnesota Twins are in an enviable position with the strength of their Minor League system. This team has high aspirations and a player like Wade can be the centerpiece of a blockbuster trade. LaMonte Wade is one name Twins fans will hear again soon.
