One Last Thing

The Hall of Fame induction announcement is this evening at 5 PM Central. The Minnesota Twins have two former players of note on the ballot, one that is in surprising risk of falling off of the ballot, and one that has a chance to be elected in his first year of eligibility.

Jim Thome played two years with the Twins, getting traded midway through the 2011 season. He hit .266/.387/.562 with 37 home runs over 179 games with the team. He should be inducted on his first year on the ballot.

Johan Santana, on the other hand has a distinct risk of fall off of the ballot, in spite of one of the strongest 5-7 year runs in recent memory on the mound. With the Twins, over 8 seasons, he won 93 games with a 3.22 ERA over 1,300+ innings with the team, winning two Cy Young Awards and a Gold Glove.
