The Door Is Now Wider for a Minnesota Twins – Torii Hunter Reunion

If you keep holding on to the dream of that one really cool girlfriend coming back after being gone for years, I have the story, okay-potential story for you. We head to Detroit, sorry, for the story.

The Detroit Tigers have recently resigned Victor Martinez to a four-year deal. While it is a big deal for Martinez, it is a big loss for a former Minnesota Twins fan favorite.

After Martinez signed the deal, the Detroit Tigers called Torii Hunter to tell him that they won’t re-sign the former All-Star and Gold Glove winner. Torii Hunter put the following on Instagran to sort of officially announce that he won’t be headed back to the Motor City:

"I had a great 2yrs with the Tigers organization. Thank you fans for accepting and supporting me on the field and in your community. You fans were awesome and I’m gonna miss you guys. I’m glad Christ lead me to Detroit. Now, let’s see where He leads my career from here. Be blessed Detroit!!!"

While Hunter once was a great baseball player, he is nowhere near where he once was. With Hunter heading into the last couple seasons of his career, it is expected that Hunter would want to head to a team that is seen to be a for-sure contender. The Minnesota Twins are not that.

The Twins do have interest though. It’d be a weird fit, but it would make for an interesting summer to say the least.

Torii Hunter might not be coming back to Minnesota, but the door of possibility is now a lot wider.
