The Minnesota Twins closed out a bummer of a seventh on Thursday afternoon against the White Sox, leaving a man in scoring position after a Christian Vásquez double before Jonah Bride flew out to end the inning. It left Chicago up by three and Minnesota sitting on a goose egg in the third and final game of this inter-division series.

However, both teams will get a moment to breathe before they go to the top of the eighth and the Twins try to come back from a three-run deficit, because play halted around 2:45 thanks to pouring rain.

The Twins already have a series W thanks to Tuesday and Wednesday's victories, but if they can pull something off in the next two innings (whenever play resumes) today, they'll have their first sweep of the season. It might be against the White Sox, but it'll be a nice boost of confidence for a team that's currently sitting below .400.

Twins vs. White Sox Rain Delay: Game status, real-time weather updates

Including the Vásquez double, the Twins have gotten five hits off of White Sox starter Shane Smith and bullpen arms Jordan Leasure and Brandon Eisert, but haven't been able to translate any of them into runs so far. They still have at least six more turns up at the plate before this one is over, and a three-run lead for Chicago isn't insurmountable.

Chris Paddack allowed a homer to Lenyn Sosa in the top of the second and then gave up a walk, a single, and another walk to load the bases in the fourth. A run came around to score on another walk, but Paddack was able to limit the damage after getting Luis Robert Jr. to fly out. Vásquez, meanwhile, is the only Twin with at least one extra-base hit, but the Twins haven't capitalized on five situations with runners in scoring position.

Stay tuned here for more updates as the weather hopefully clears up within the hour.

*Update: 2:42 PM CST*

The Twins and White Sox decided to call it quits about an hour after the initial delay, so Chicago boasts a win with a final score of 3-0 through seven innings. This marks just their second win in their last 10 games as they saved off yet another sweep.

Minnesota will be right back at in Friday for the start of a series against the Angels at home, when the weather looks a little more hospitable.
