Twins to place RHP Marco Raya on IL

The Twins are placing right-hander Marco Raya on the 15-day injured list with a right shoulder impingement, according to The Athletic's Dan Hayes. The Twins recalled Raya on June 24 for his MLB debut. In six innings across three appearances with Minnesota, Raya has posted a 3.00 ERA with four strikeouts and three walks.

Twins RHP Bailey Ober appears set to return

Ober has been on the IL since May 31 with a right elbow flexor strain. He made two rehab appearances recently, one with High-A Cedar Rapids and the other with Triple-A St. Paul. Ober has a 4.59 ERA and 1.22 WHIP with 46 strikeouts in 66 2/3 innings over 12 starts for the Twins this season.

Twins' Luke Keaschall gets first career start in CF

Luke Keaschall moved to a primary outfield role after struggling at second base to begin the year. While Keaschall has been playing right field lately, the 23-year-old will play center field for the first time in his career against the Cleveland Guardians at Target Field on Wednesday night.

Meanwhile, Alan Roden gets the start in right field and Trevor Larnach in left. With Byron Buxton on the IL, the team will likely shuffle through several options at center field until the star returns.

Twins sign RHP Matt Bowman to minor-league deal

The Twins have signed right-hander Matt Bowman to a minor-league deal, according to AaronGleeman.com's Aaron Gleeman. Bowman will report to Triple-A St. Paul.

Bowman began the year in the Twins organization, pitching for the Saints before opting out of his contract in May. He then signed a minor-league deal with the Toronto Blue Jays. He opted out of that deal last week, allowing the Twins to bring him back.

In 30 innings at the Triple-A level this year, Bowman has posted a 4.20 ERA with a 26.8% strikeout rate and 7.1% walk rate. He's a solid depth piece as a veteran with MLB experience. Over 240 2/3 big-league innings across seven seasons, Bowman has a 4.38 ERA, 18.7% strikeout rate and 8% walk rate.

Twins RHP Cole Sands makes rehab appearance

Cole Sands, who has a 4.63 ERA in 11 2/3 innings this year, landed on the IL on May 2 with a right forearm strain. He began a rehab assignment in early June, but it was stopped because he hadn't recovered enough to continue pitching, per Hayes.

Sands finally returned to his rehab assignment with the Saints on Tuesday, throwing a scoreless inning.
