Twins 3B Royce Lewis activated from IL

The Minnesota Twins have officially announced that Lewis has been reinstated from the 10-day injured list. Minnesota placed left-handed reliever Kody Funderburk, who has a 2.00 ERA in nine innings this season, on the paternity list as a corresponding move.

Lewis, who has a .222/.378/.444 (132 OPS+) slash line with two homers, two doubles, eight RBI and two stolen bases in 12 games with Minnesota this season, landed on the IL with a left knee sprain on April 11. He played in two rehab games with Triple-A St. Paul last weekend, going 2-for-7 with two homers.

Twins recall LHP prospect Kendry Rojas

The Twins also announced this morning that they have recalled Rojas from Triple-A St. Paul to take right-handed pitcher Mick Abel's spot on the roster. Rojas, whom the Twins acquired from the Toronto Blue Jays in the Louis Varland trade last summer, will presumably join Minnesota's bullpen. The 23-year-old southpaw suffered a hamstring injury in spring training. After a rehab outing with Low-A Fort Myers, he threw six scoreless innings across two outings with the Saints.

Mick Abel's injury reportedly "not too serious"

The Twins placed Abel, who threw 13 scoreless innings over his last two starts, on the 15-day IL with right elbow inflammation on Monday. Luckily, The Athletic's Dan Hayes reported that multiple sources said the righty's injury is "not too serious." Hopefully, that means Abel will be activated as soon as he's eligible.

Twins promote top pitching prospect Connor Prielipp to taxi squad

The Twins have called up Prielipp, a lefty, to the taxi squad for the series against the Mets in New York, Hayes reported on Sunday night. Prielipp, FanSided's No. 83 overall MLB prospect, is widely viewed as Minnesota's best pitching prospect.

When the news broke that Prielipp is joining the Twins' taxi squad, most assumed he'd be part of the bullpen. But given the Abel news, it now seems more likely that Prielipp, who has a 2.30 ERA in 15 2/3 innings with the Saints this year, will join Minnesota's starting rotation.

Righty Simeon Woods Richardson is scheduled to start against the Mets in New York today. Prielipp will likely make the start on Wednesday. The Twins currently have 14 batters and 12 pitchers on their roster. They'll have to make a corresponding move when they officially place Prielipp on the 26-man roster. Likely candidates to lose their big-league roster spot when the Twins recall Prielipp include James Outman, Ryan Kreidler and Matt Wallner.
