MLB commissioner Rob Manfred commented on the process of the Twins adding minority investors to their ownership group, according to The Athletic's Evan Drellich.
The Pohlad family’s efforts to sell minority stakes in the Minnesota Twins are ongoing, Manfred said.
“Those non-control interest sales are in process — on track and in process,” Manfred said, sharing no further details.
Twins fans have no reason to believe Rob Manfred's comments on minority investors
Remember when the Pohlads were seeking a buyer of the team, not just minority investors? As fans know, the family decided to take the team off the market after attempting to sell the club for nearly a year, announcing they would instead add minority investors. But just over four months ago, Manfred seemed confident that a sale of the team would be completed.
MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred says bidders to buy Twins backed off when it became evident Justin Ishbia was “the leader in the clubhouse,” but now that he’s out, Manfred is “confident that a transaction will take place,” presumably soon.

So, if Manfred was incorrect about the Pohlads finding a buyer for the Twins, why should fans trust him when he says the minority owners will be brought in soon? Why should fans even believe the Pohlads that minority investors are definitely coming in, when the announcement was made in August, and we still have no idea who the new members of the ownership group are?
And why did the Pohlads announce the addition of the minority investors if they were planning on keeping their identities a secret more than two months later? It's almost as if they thought fans would be so happy at the idea of new minority investors being involved with the club that they wouldn't care who they actually are.
Now, I'm not saying the minority owners aren't real, but it doesn't seem too far-fetched to think that they could have backed out of investing in the team or are actively considering doing so. It seems the Pohlad family couldn't get the price they wanted when seeking to sell the team, so maybe they aren't getting the investment they want from the reported limited partners.
Hopefully the limited partners will be officially announced soon, and it will give the team more payroll flexibility this offseason. But as a Twins fan myself, I'm skeptical.
