With historic names like Killebrew, Puckett and Mauer as predecessors, voting is officially underway and the Midsummer Classic in Philadelphia is just around the corner. The Minnesota Twins have clear-cut front runners who are making strong cases to represent the American League along with a couple dark horse candidates. With some high-level prospects garnering attention, the Twins should have good representation at the Futures game as well.
Who will represent the Twins in the All-Star Week festivities?
The Locks & Frontrunners
Byron Buxton (CF): Buxton is putting together the healthy season everyone has been waiting to see. He is currently tracking right at the top of the American League outfield voting and has a legitimate shot to lock down a starting spot in center field. It's a delight to see Buck getting the success his career deserves. Perhaps he takes another run at the home run derby....?
Joe Ryan (SP): Building off his 2025 All-Star nod, Ryan has been the absolute anchor of the Twins' rotation. He’s pitching to a stellar 3.07 ERA with a sub-1.00 WHIP, while drastically cutting down on his home runs allowed per nine innings. He is widely projected to comfortably make the pitching staff. (Note: His stellar performance has also made him a massive name in trade deadline rumors as teams look for frontline pitching control).
Potential Sneaky / Reserve Candidates
Kody Clemens (UTL): Clemens path to a surprise All-Star appearance is all about maximized opportunity, with a hot streak at the perfect time in the voting cycle. He's had a blazing June streak, highlighted by a recent stretch where he went 11-for-37 with three doubles and four home runs over a 10-game span.
Taj Bradley (P): Bradley is putting together a highly encouraging and fascinating season since coming over to Minnesota. A hot start, cooled by an injury, has Bradley through 13 starts, his traditional surface stats sit at a solid 5-3 record with a 4.14 ERA, 1.34 WHIP, and 80 strikeouts in 71.2 innings. He's coming off a gritty, deep outing yesterday against the Cardinals where he gutted out 6.2 innings, giving up 4 runs but striking out 7 to help secure a 5-4 Twins victory. A couple more quality starts could give him a chance.
Future Watch (Futures Game)
Walker Jenkins (OF): Jenkins is a consensus top-5 prospect in all of baseball. Despite a minor ankle issue delaying his ramp-up a bit earlier, he’s the crown jewel of the system. If he hasn't been permanently called up to Minneapolis by July, he is a lock to headline the AL squad.
Kaelen Culpepper (SS): Named the Twins' 2025 Minor League Hitter of the Year after a massive summer surge, Culpepper has the look of a future everyday big-league infielder. He handles velocity well, uses the entire field, and has been flashing more game power. He has a very high profile right now and represents the exact type of upper-minor infielder MLB likes to showcase.
