The Twins already have an All-Star Game representative in manager Derek Shelton, who will be on Toronto Blue Jays skipper John Schneider's American League coaching staff. In addition to Shelton, who else will represent the Twins in this year's All-Star Game?
Early predictions for who will represent the Twins in the 2026 All-Star Game
CF Byron Buxton
As long as he's healthy, Buxton, 32, should make his third All-Star Game appearance this summer. In 55 games this season, Buxton has posted 2.1 fWAR, a .257/.319/.549 (136 wRC+) slash line and 3 Outs Above Average. Over 248 plate appearances, the center fielder has hit 18 home runs, 10 doubles and a triple with 28 RBI and five stolen bases.
While a strong June could lead to Buxton being a starter in the Midsummer Classic, it seems more likely he'll be a reserve. Buxton's 2.1 fWAR ranks fourth among AL outfielders, tied with the Los Angeles Angels' Mike Trout. Ahead of Buxton and Trout are the Yankees' Cody Bellinger (2.4), the Mariners' Randy Arozarena (2.2) and the Yankees' Aaron Judge (2.2). Judge won't be able to compete in the All-Star Game due to a stress fracture in his right rib.
Bellinger and Trout likely have two outfield spots locked up as long as they continue to perform at high levels. Buxton could earn more love than Arozarena in fan voting, but Mariners center fielder Julio Rodríguez (1.4 fWAR) is also having a solid season and is popular among MLB fans. Buxton has a solid chance to start in the All-Star Game, but he has plenty of tough competition.
SP Joe Ryan
Ryan appears on track to make his second straight All-Star appearance. The right-hander ranks fourth among AL pitchers in fWAR (2.1), tied with the Mariners' Bryan Woo. Ahead of Ryan and Woo are the Yankees' Cam Schlittler (3.1), the White Sox's Davis Martin (2.6) and the Angels' Reid Detmers (2.2). In 76 1/3 innings across 14 starts this season, Ryan has posted a 3.07 ERA and a 2.92 FIP with a 27.3% strikeout rate and a 5.2% walk rate.
This year could very well be Ryan's last opportunity to represent the Twins in the All-Star Game. With the Twins sitting seven games under .500, the team appears likely to sell ahead of the Aug. 3 trade deadline. Under team control through next season, Ryan could be one of the most sought-after pitchers on the trade market this summer.
