Only four teams remain in the MLB postseason. The Los Angeles Dodgers will face the Milwaukee Brewers in the National League Championship Series. The Tampa Bay Rays will play the Cleveland Guardians in the American League Championship Series.
Based on the teams still alive, what would be the ideal World Series matchup for Twins fans?
Honestly, it's pretty obvious. Almost no one but Dodgers fans wants Los Angeles to three-peat. The Brewers are easy to root for, as they have never won a World Series, are a small-market team and are nearby. If you're a Twins fan, there's a strong chance you have some friends who root for the Brewers.
We've established that Twins fans should want the Brewers to advance to the World Series. Milwaukee also has former Twins catcher Gary Sánchez and right-handed reliever Trevor Megill.
As for the American League side, it couldn't be more obvious which team Twins fans should root for. The Guardians are AL Central rivals of the Twins. For the same reason New York Yankees fans root against the Boston Red Sox, Twins fans should hope the Guardians lose to the Rays in the ALCS.
The Rays also have former Twins right-hander Griffin Jax, whom Tampa Bay acquired from Minnesota at last year's deadline in exchange for right-hander Taj Bradley.
Minnesota Twins fans should root for a Milwaukee Brewers-Tampa Bay Rays World Series this year
Hopefully, we Twins fans get to watch a Brewers-Rays World Series. If the Fall Classic ends up being Dodgers vs. Guardians, it's going to be a tough watch.
Game 1 of the NLCS between the Dodgers and Brewers is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. CDT on Sunday. The game will be played at American Family Field in Milwaukee.
Two-time Cy Young Award winner Tarik Skubal will start Game 1 for Los Angeles. National League Cy Young favorite Jacob Misiorowski is expected to start for Milwaukee. The NLCS games will be available to watch on either FOX or FS1.
The ALCS between the Guardians and Rays will begin at 7:00 p.m. CDT on Monday. The series will begin at Tropicana Field, home of the Rays. The ALCS games will be available to watch on TBS and HBO Max.
Right-hander Drew Rasmussen is scheduled to start for the Rays in Game 1. The Guardians haven't announced their Game 1 starter yet.
The World Series will begin on Friday, Oct. 23.
