The Championship Series is finally here. In the National League, the Los Angeles Dodgers will play the Milwaukee Brewers. In the American League, the Tampa Bay Rays will take on the Cleveland Guardians.
Let's take a look at four former Twins players who can still win the World Series this year.
4 former Twins players who still can win the World Series as the Championship Series arrives
C Gary Sánchez - Milwaukee Brewers
Sánchez, 33, had just one plate appearance in the Brewers' NLDS against the San Diego Padres, but it was a big one. The former Twins catcher entered Game 2 as a pinch-hitter in the bottom of the ninth inning with two runners on base and two outs while the Brewers trailed 3-2. Sánchez showed stellar plate discipline, working a full count and drawing a walk against star closer Mason Miller, allowing Jackson Chourio to hit a walk-off two-run single to give the Brewers a 2-0 series lead.

Sánchez hit .209/.349/.422 with 12 homers and 38 RBI over 87 games in the regular season. In his lone year with the Twins (2022), Sánchez slashed .205/.282/.377 with 16 home runs and 61 RBI.
RHP Trevor Megill - Milwaukee Brewers
It's difficult to predict how relievers will pan out, but the Twins surely regret letting Megill go. The right-hander is the closer for the best team in baseball and threw 3 1/3 scoreless innings in three NLDS appearances this year.
Megill had a poor 4.80 ERA over 45 innings with the Twins in 2022. Since joining the Brewers in 2023, Megill has recorded a strong 2.80 ERA with 231 strikeouts and 81 saves over 189 2/3 innings. He has a career postseason ERA of 0.84 with 16 strikeouts over 10 2/3 innings.
RHP Brock Stewart - Los Angeles Dodgers
The Dodgers acquired Stewart from the Twins for outfielder James Outman at the 2025 trade deadline. Even though Stewart has spent plenty of time on the IL since the trade, the Twins probably still regret making the deal. The Twins eventually cut Outman, while Stewart has a 2.97 ERA with 28 strikeouts over 30 1/3 innings since rejoining the Dodgers.
Stewart was injured during the Dodgers' 2025 World Series run. In the NLDS against the Braves this year, Stewart threw 1 1/3 scoreless innings across two outings.
RHP Griffin Jax - Tampa Bay Rays
Jax, whom the Twins sent to the Rays for right-hander Taj Bradley at last year's trade deadline, made one appearance in the Rays' ALDS win against the New York Yankees, allowing one run with four strikeouts over two innings in the deciding Game 3. The 31-year-old right-hander nearly gave up a game-tying two-run homer to Anthony Volpe, but fan interference kept it an RBI double, helping the Rays complete the sweep with a 4-3 win.
Jax's lone ALDS appearance came out of the bullpen, but he became a primary starter for the Rays this season. In his first full season with Tampa Bay, Jax recorded a 3.53 ERA with 116 strikeouts in 112 1/3 innings across 34 appearances (23 starts).
