Pablo Lopez was mastermind behind Twins new Prince home run celebration
Of course Pablo Lopez was the one who came up with another awesome home run celebration.
Not only did the Minnesota Twins experience another offensive explosion on Thursday night, the team also debuted a brand new home run celebration.
The Rally Sausage is gone, replaced instead by a much more health code friendly ritual. Rather than throwing expired meat at each other when the Twins hit a home run, players will now don a custom vest that pays tribute to Prince.
There's even an inflatable purple guitar to riff on as well.
Fans got their first glimpse of the celebration on Thursday night when Carlos Correa hit a home run in a 6-2 win over the Athletics. When he returned to the dugout, Pablo Lopez was waiting for him with the new vest, a purple hat, and a brand new vibe.
Lopez wasn't just there to hand Correa the vest by accident. It turns out this whole thing.
Pablo Lopez created the Twins new Prince home run celebration
Not long after the new celebration was unveiled to the world, Bally Sports North's Audra Martin revealed that it was the brainchild of Lopez and he had been waiting months to debut it.
Apparently Lopez wanted this new Prince celebration to happen a lot earlier but there was a slight delay. The custom vest took longer than expected to get made and by the time Lopez finally got it the rally sausage had Twins Territory in a chokehold.
.Once the sausage expired -- it's aura and power, clearly not it's actual expiration date -- the opportunity presented itself for Lopez to reveal the new Prince celebration.
It worked out perfectly that the debut of the new celebration happened on Prince Night at Target Field. That coincidence led some to believe that this was a one-off thing tied to the festivities of the night. That's not the case, though, as it seems this is indeed the new Twins home run celebration for the time being.
Lopez being behind the whole thing makes it even better. He was the mastermind of the 'Land of 10,000 Rakes' fishing vest last year and continues to do things like this as a leader of the clubhouse. It's just further proof that the Twins trading for him was one of the best deals the team has made in recent history, as it continues to payoff both on and off the field.
