Dig, if you will, the Minnesota Twins new home run celebration.

Carlos Correa hit a home run in the eighth inning on Thursday night and when he returned to the dugout a custom Prince vest and inflatable guitar was waiting for him. Not only did Correa keep his hot streak going, he was the first Twins player to take th new home run celebration for a test drive.

For the first part of the season a possibly toxic piece of summer sausage had become the most bizarre lucky charm a team has ever had. The Twins rallied about what Rocco Baldelli described as a ‘substantial sausage’ that happened to get left out on a table in the clubhouse and somehow became a symbol of Minnesota climbing out of a 7-13 hole to start the season.

The sausage traveled the world, going across the state and even into another country, but it has officially been retired. In its place, the Twins debuted a new — far healthier — celebration on Thursday night and it was absolutely worth the wait.

Twins officially replace the home run sausage with a Prince-themed celebration

This wasn’t just a one-off gimmick because it was Prince Night at Target Field. Audra Martin reported during the Bally Sports North broadcast that Pablo Lopez had been planning on making the team’s home run celebration Prince themed, but the custom vest didn’t arrive in time for the start of the season.

By the time the vest did show up, the home run sausage had taken over and was serving as the lucky charm during a 12-game winning streak. Now that the sausage is gone, the Twins can move forward with what appears to have been their original home run celebration all along.

If there was any doubt, the Twins tweeted out confirmation.

The reaction from fans was overwhelmingly positive, which means this is likely to catch on the same way the rally sausage did. The Twins have always found a way to honor Prince each season since his passing in 2016, and this might be the coolest way a Minnesota sports team has incorporated his legacy into their DNA.

Here’s to hoping we see plenty more of the Prince home run vest from here on out.
