Tuesday’s Twins-White Sox game postponed due to bad weather: Full details and makeup date
For the fourth time this season, the Twins will have to play a doubleheader due to bad weather.
It seems the only thing that can stop the Minnesota Twins from beating the Chicago White Sox this season is Mother Nature.
Bad weather has forced Tuesday’s game in Chicago to be postponed until Wednesday, where it will be part of a doubleheader. This marks the fourth time this season that the Twins will have to wait to play ball due to rain, and the third time it’s happened against an AL Central opponent.
Minnesota and Cleveland will play a doubleheader at Target Field in August after a game in April was postponed. That’s the only standing order of business the Twins have due to rain, as postponements against the Tigers and A’s have both been taken care of already.
That game against the A’s came less than a month ago, and now Tuesday’s game can be added to the list.
Why isn’t the Minnesota Twins game on today? (July 9, 2024)
Remnants from Hurricane Beryl blew up through the Midwest and drenched Chicago on Tuesday night, causing the Twins-White Sox game to be moved to Wednesday.
There was absolutely no delay in simply moving the game, as the decision to postpone action until the following afternoon was made at least two hours before first pitch.
So far rain delays haven’t really thrown Minnesota off its game. The Twins have won both games that have been rescheduled (the game against Cleveland is schedule for August 9th), with the Detroit doubleheader being of particular interest.
That was the game the Twins called up Simeon Woods Richardson to make a spot start, and he hasn’t looked back since. Woods Richardson has remained part of Minnesota’s rotation, earning a key role moving forward.
Minnesota completed a sweep of the A’s in its doubleheader on June 15th, and it’s those vibes the team is hoping to carry into Wednesday in Chicago.
