It's absolutely safe to say that everyone is ready to look forward and move on from a truly awful series in New York.

The Minnesota Twins were dragged behind the woodshed by the Yankees this week. Minnesota allowed over 30 runs, got dominated by Yankees starters, and looked nothing like the team we saw finally win a season series over New York last season.

Now it's on to Pittsburgh, where the Twins are hopefully going to shake off the beating they took in the Bronx and start bouncing back. That's the upside here, as the Twins have one of the softest schedules from now until the All-Star Break in July. The Pirates can't be taken for granted, but we've seen Minnesota beat bad teams this year and that's a trend that should continue on Friday night.

Twins vs. Pirates probable starting pitchers, June 7

After a brutal start by Pablo Lopez, Joe Ryan (4-4, 3.38 ERA) is going to try and wash the taste out of everyone's mouth and turn in another solid start. As Lopez uncharacteristically struggles, Ryan has stepped up as the ace the Twins have been hoping he'd develop into.

There's still a lot of distance left to run, but Ryan has looked markedly improved from last year. He owns a 2-1 record and 2.48 ERA on the road this season, and just recently has back-to-back starts wher ehe combined for 15 strikeouts and just a single run allowed.

Granted, he had a tough outing against the Astros in his last start, but he's shown enough to give everyone confidence that he's capable of a bounceback start in Pittsburgh.

One bit of good news for the Twins is that they won't have to face Paul Skenes this series. He pitched on Wednesday against the Dodgers and showed the type of dominance that is the exact opposite of what Minnesota's offense needs right now.

Instead, the Pirates will be sending Mitch Keller (7-3, 3.42 ERA) to the mound. He's not Skenes but Keller has been pretty decent this year in 73.2 innings pitched. He's walked a lot of batters, which is good news for guys like Royce Lewis, but the Twins might still have their work cut out as they try to get things back on track.
