Minnesota Twins probable pitchers & starting lineups vs. Baltimore Orioles, April 15
Here's everything to know about Monday night's Twins vs. Orioles game.
Overall it was a decent weekend of baseball for the Minnesota Twins.
Things started with Carlos Correa getting injured during a 8-2 loss on Friday, and while Sunday ended the series with another loss a pair of rather invigorating wins were sandwiched in between.
Minnesota swept a doubleheader with Detroit on Saturday, outscoring the Tigers 15-6 while getting all sorts of positive signs from the lineup. Edouard Julien's bat came to life again, we finally saw something out of Matt Wallner and Ryan Jeffers, and even Carlos Santana managed to muster up enough to end his hitless streak.
It was the Twins' pitching that stole the show, though. Joe Ryan struck out 12 hitters while Simeon Woods Richardson logged six tremendous innings of work to get the first win of his MLB career. It was exactly what the team needed, and is momentum that should be carried into a challenging series against the Baltimore Orioles.
Twins vs. Orioles probable starting pitchers (April 15th)
- Louie Varland will be on the mound for Minnesota on Monday, and he has a lot to live up to. Joe Ryan, Simeon Woods Richardson, and Bailey Ober all set the bar extremely high for Varland to clear, and he has to do it against one of the hardest lineups in the league. He's shown an ability to shine in these moments, though, as he started out excellently against the Los Angeles Dodgers before some cracks started to show. He'll look to build on that against Baltimore and keep the good times rolling for Minnesota.
- Over on Baltimore's side will be lefty Cole Irvin, who has only two start this season and neither went very well. Irvin carries a 8.10 ERA into Monday's start having allowed nine runs on 14 hits against the Royals and Red Sox, and faces a Twins lineup that has started to hit well against lefties this year. Guys like Matt Wallner and Ryan Jeffers will look to continue the hot streak they're on, as will Edouard Julien. It won't be easy, but Irvin is the perfect pitcher for the Twins to try and steal a game early in this first series against Baltimore.
Minnesota Twins starting lineup, April 15
Twins hitters came alive over the weekend, even in the loss on Sunday afternoon.
Minnesota's offense produced 18 runs over three games, which is hopefully a sign of things starting to come together rather than yet another stop-and-start that fans have grown frustrated with seeing over the last year.
Wallner and Jeffers picking up some slack was a good sign, as is the fact that Eddy Julien seems to finally be figuring things out the way we all hoped he would. Jeffers finished the weekend with four RBI and a home run, which is the the type of production the team wanted to see when it had him hitting second on Opening Day.
Note: This lineup is projected. It will be updated once the official lineup card is submitted on Monday afternoon.

Baltimore Orioles starting lineup, April 15
Thing won't be easy for the Twins this week, specifically because of how dangerous Baltimore's lineup can be. It's led by a pair of fantastic young players in Adley Rutschman and Gunnar Henderson, who will be joined by Jackson Holliday to round out the trio.
It's going to be an exciting peek into the future of the AL this week when the Twins face that lineup, but it also provides an opportunity for Minnesota to prove it can hang with the best.
Note: Orioles lineup will go here when it's revealed on Monday.
