Minnesota Twins probable pitchers & starting lineup vs. New York Yankees, May 15
The Twins are looking to get back in the win column after a rough series opener against the Yankees.
It was a rough night for the Minnesota Twins on Tuesday, as Ryan Jeffers’ home run in the first inning was pretty much were the evening peaked. Chris Paddack got beat up for five runs as the New York Yankees got some revenge for how things went last season when these two teams met.
A new night means another chance for the Twins to get things back on track.
To be fair, while Tuesday’s 5-1 loss wasn’t great the Twins have still won 17 of their last 21 games and are trending in the right direction. Nobody is expecting streaks like the one we saw at the end of April to last the whole season, but it will be interesting to see how the team responds to getting punched in the mouth by a good team.
New York is one of the best teams Minnesota has faced over this last stretch and this series is going to tell us a lot about where exactly they are and how much further they need to go.

What better way to try and shake off a tough loss than to celebrate another Pablo Day?
Minnesota will be sending out ace Pablo Lopez (4-2, 3.89 ERA) to hopefully get the winning ways back on track. Everything is lining up for that to happen, as Lopez hasn’t pitched a bad game all season and hasn’t run into trouble since the middle of April. That’s the last time Minnesota lost with Lopez on the mound, as the team has collected four straight wins over his next starts.
Getting a fifth on Wednesday would be exactly what the team needs right now.
Lopez will be facing Marcus Stroman (2-2, 3.80 ERA) who was at one point a potential free agent target for the Twins. He’s been a little all over the place this season for the Yankees, failing to make it past the fifth inning in every start outside of this first one and allowing a lot of runs early.
His last start was particularly tough as Houston roughed Stroman up for four runs on nine hits in just 4.1 innings of work. That’s what the Twins will be hoping to do on Wednesday, as Stroman is a good pitcher who is prone for games where he can get tagged early and chased before too long.
