Second baseman Luke Keaschall expected to be ready for Opening Day after undergoing thumb surgery

Keaschall is expected to be ready for Opening Day after undergoing left thumb surgery in October to repair a torn ulnar collateral ligament. He suffered the injury when he slid head-first into second base against the Texas Rangers on September 23 at Globe Life Field.

Last season, Keaschall hit .302/.382/.445 with four home runs, 28 RBI, 24 runs and 14 stolen bases in 49 games. He'll likely be the Twins' primary second baseman next season, and he may play some innings at first base and outfield as well.

Right-handed pitchers Pablo López, David Festa expected to be ready for Opening Day

Twins president Derek Falvey told The Athletic's Aaron Gleeman in November that López, who landed on the Injured List in late September with a right forearm strain, is fully healthy and is expected to have a normal offseason.

As for Festa, the righty is supposed to be ready for Spring Training, per Gleeman. He landed on the Injured list on July 22 with right shoulder inflammation, which kept him sidelined for the remainder of the season. He began a rehab assignment with the St. Paul Saints in August, but suffered another setback, solidifying he'd be out for the rest of the year. He has a career 5.12 ERA (4.27 FIP) across 117 2/3 innings in the majors from 2024-25.

Outfielder Alan Roden will likely be ready for Opening Day after undergoing thumb surgery

The Twins acquired Roden, along with lefty pitching prospect Kendrys Rojas, from the Toronto Blue Jays for righty reliever Louis Varland and first baseman Ty France on July 31. Roden appeared in just 12 games with Minnesota last season before landing on the Injured List with a left thumb strain, which sidelined him for the remainder of the season, in mid-August.

In 40 plate appearances with Minnesota last season, Roden, who bats from the left side, hit .158/.200/.263 with one home run. He had 113 plate appearances with Toronto during the 2025 campaign, slashing .204/.283/.306 with one home run and three RBI.
