It was a rough 2025 season for Twins fans; they saw nearly half of their favorite team's roster dismantled at the trade deadline before their unpopular owners decided to pull the team off the market after announcing they would seek to sell the team about a year ago. Still, with promising prospects and stars such as Byron Buxton, Luke Keaschall and Joe Ryan, the Twins have a lot of interesting storylines surrounding the team, and hopefully the front office makes some big signings and/or trades this offseason. With that in mind, here are some important offseason dates Twins fans should know.
Important dates for Twins fans to know in the 2025-26 MLB offseason
Qualifying offer deadline (five days after the World Series ends)
Five days after the 2025 World Series ends, teams must decide whether or not to extend qualifying offers to free agents. The deadline will be sometime between Nov. 2 and Nov. 6. The qualifying offer is projected to be $22 million. While Twins fans should keep this date in mind to monitor the league, it's safe to say Minnesota's front office won't be extending any qualifying offers this offseason, as most of the club's impending free agents were dealt to other teams in July. Christian Vázquez is the only notable impending free agent for the Twins, and Minnesota certainly won't want to pay a backup catcher $22 million for one season.
Non-tender deadline (November 21)
This date is a lot more relevant for Twins fans, as the front office may look to non-tender some players to shed payroll and create room on the roster for prospects such as Walker Jenkins, Emmanuel Rodriguez and Kaelen Culpepper. There are 10 non-tender candidates on the Twins, with the most likely to be non-tendered being relievers Thomas Hatch, Anthony Misiewicz and Michael Tonkin, along with outfielder Trevor Larnach.
MLB Winter Meetings (December 8-11)
Twins fans hope Minnesota will make productive moves during the Winter Meetings, where executives from all 30 teams gather each year. This year's Winter Meetings will take place from Dec. 8-11 in Orlando, Fla. The 2025 MLB Draft Lottery will also occur during the Winter Meetings, set for Dec. 9 at 3 p.m. CT. The 2025 MLB Rule 5 Draft will also take place at the Winter Meetings on Dec. 10 from 1-3 p.m. CT.
Pitchers and catchers report to spring training (February 2025)
In February, Twins pitchers and catchers will report to the Twins' spring training complex in Fort Myers, Fla., to begin preparing for the 2026 campaign. Minnesota has yet to release its spring training schedule, but fans can expect to begin their spring training planning sometime this fall.
