Ty France has put together a respectable MLB career, but he seemingly cannot stick with one organization. On Monday, it was announced that France will be heading back to the San Diego Padres, marking his sixth stint in eight seasons. He will head to the Friars on a minor league deal with an invite to spring training.

This will be his fifth organization in the last three years, too, which includes the Minnesota Twins. France was having a spectacular defensive season at first base before getting traded to the Toronto Blue Jays, and then eventually winning the Gold Glove Award before electing free agency.

Former Minnesota Twin Ty France heads back to San Diego on minor league contract

France was drafted by the Padres in the 34th round of the 2015 MLB Draft. He spent two seasons in Southern California before finding his longest lease with the Seattle Mariners. France was an All-Star with the Mariners before jumping from the Reds to the Twins to the Blue Jays.

He played in 101 games with Minnesota, producing exceptional defensive metrics and a .251 batting average. His biggest imprint on offense came on April 16 and May 23. France recorded a walk-off RBI in extra innings to defeat the Mets in April, then muscled a walk-off home run against the Royals in May when Minnesota was riding a hot streak of 15 victories across 17 games.

France would have been a nice re-addition to the Twins as a back-up first baseman to Josh Bell, but the Padres are in the same boat. They need depth within the infield and France can definitely provide those reinforcements. Though he is famous for playing solid defense at first, he can play second base and third base when needed.

If France performs well at Spring Training, he could crack San Diego's Opening Day roster. Twins fans will be rooting for his success in his second stint with the team that drafted him.
