With the Twins parting ways with team president Derek Falvey, general manager Jeremy Zoll has taken over Minnesota's baseball operations department. However, Zoll won't be in charge of the department for long, as the Twins are looking to add a new president of baseball operations, per The Athletic's Aaron Gleeman. Zoll is still expected to remain the team's general manager after executive chair Tom Pohlad, who is temporarily running the business department, hires a new president of baseball operations.

Since the Twins are looking to add a new leader to their baseball operations department, could they entertain the idea of bringing back this former executive?

Could Twins' Tom Pohlad bring back popular executive Thad Levine after Derek Falvey's departure?

The Milwaukee Brewers recently hired Levine as a special advisor. He served as the Twins' general manager under Falvey for eight seasons before parting ways with the organization last offseason.

While Levine, 53, has a new job, he may still consider stepping down if the Twins are interested in bringing him back as the leader of baseball operations.

Levine left Minnesota after his contract expired, allowing the Twins to cut costs by simply not bringing him back. The former general manager also likely wanted a change of scenery. The fact that Minnesota missed the postseason in 2024 after cutting payroll, despite making the playoffs the year before, could have persuaded him to seek a job elsewhere. He also possibly didn't see eye to eye with Falvey toward the end of his tenure with Minnesota.

Zoll replaced LevineĀ as the Twins' general manager during the 2024-25 offseason after serving as an assistant general manager for five seasons and director of minor league operations for two seasons with the organization. Minnesota also had Falvey take over Dave St. Peter's role as president of business operations while continuing to serve as the president of baseball operations. St. Peter, 57, is still with the Twins organization in an advisory role.

By parting ways with Falvey, the Twins clearly are trying to head in a different direction as an organization. If Falvey and Levine didn't see eye to eye, it's possible Pohlad will consider reaching out to Levine to fill the Twins' vacant president of baseball operations role, since Pohlad likely wants someone with a different mindset than Falvey to lead the baseball operations department.

And now that Pohlad is seeking someone else to lead business operations, maybe he'll ask St. Peter if he wants his old job back.
