Jose Miranda's Up and Down 2024 Season
It was a tale of two halves for Jose Miranda. He was in St. Paul at the beginning of the year but, due to injuries, he was needed at the big league level quickly.
Miranda had an excellent first half of the 2024 season. He played most days and split his time between third base, first base, and designated hitter. Miranda was proving how important and irreplaceable he can be. He was batting well over .300 and had a career-high RBI pace.
Miranda even joined an elite club of hitters after he recorded a hit in 12 straight at-bats, tying an MLB record.

Shortly after this excitement, Miranda came down with a back injury.
Injuries can often derail seasons, and that's what happened to Miranda. After a stellar first half of baseball that put him on track to have a career year, the injury messed it all up. Miranda returned once he was "healthy," but he was not right the rest of the year.
Fans watched as he looked uncomfortable at the plate and had plenty of at-bats that were just plain ugly.
New Year, New Jose Miranda?
2024 gave us a peak at what Miranda could, and should, be. The second half of last season was frustrating for Jose, the fans, and the team as they sputtered out of playoff contention. The 2025 season brings new hope and a new Jose, or at least not the same one we saw last fall.

The question doesn't seem to be "Can he do it?" but instead "Can he maintain it?' and "Can he stay healthy?'
The last question seems to come up in conversation with every Minnesota Twin, not just Miranda. As with most years, there was plenty of hype and excitement about the squad in 2024 following a playoff berth and a series win, but Miranda and the Twins just could not stay healthy.
Hopefully, that can change in 2025.
Where Does Jose Miranda Fit in with the 2025 Minnesota Twins?
At the start of spring training this year, this question was more than valid. It even seemed like a possibility that the answer would be that he doesn't. The way that the last few weeks have unfolded, though, have made it abundantly clear that he will have opportunities nearly every day.
With Miranda coming up as a third baseman, it looked that he would be one of a couple guys that would be giving Royce Lewis an occasional breather. With Lewis going down earlier this week, many assumed that Miranda and Brooks Lee would be the fill-in options.
Shortly after, Lee went down with his own injury.
With both Lee and Lewis now ruled out for Opening Day, it looks like Miranda may be manning third base to at least start the year. He will also get plenty of time in the designated hitter and first base roles, filling in for and trading off with newly signed Ty France.
Miranda has made it clear that he wants to play as much as possible. It originally looked like this may be a pipedream with Lewis at third and France at first, but he's got a chance to, once again, prove that he can be irreplaceable.
