Manuel is Professor of Latin American History at the University of Leeds in the UK. He's been a baseball fan all his life, even though by now he barely gets to play a bit of softball in the short British summer. He's currently writing a book that explores the relationship between organized baseball and Cuba, focusing on the Havana Cubans/Cuban Sugar Kings, a minor-league team that was affiliated to the Washington Senators and the Cincinnati Reds between 1946 and 1960.
