One Last Thing

Joe Mauer got the night off on Saturday facing Cole Hamels, who he is 0-12 in his career against with no walks and 3 strikeouts, for a pure .000/.000/.000 line.

In his career, there are only three pitchers who Mauer has faced at least 10 times that he has not gotten a hit off of – Hamels, Darren Oliver, and Mike Mussina. However, he walked once against Oliver in 11 plate appearances and had a sacrifice fly. He also had two walks against Mussina.

In his career, next to Hamels, the most plate appearances for any pitcher who has held Mauer to a .000/.000/.000 line is Michael Pineda, who has 9, but just had Tommy John surgery and will miss all of 2018.
