The Minnesota Twins beat the Houston Astros 3-2 last night behind a strong pitching performance from Ervin Santana and their future outfield.
Eddie Rosario in left field, Byron Buxton in center field and Aaron Hicks in right field. Get used to seeing that outfield Twins fans.
The biggest play of the game came on the final play of the game. With the bases loaded Buxton made the game-winning catch on a line drive from Jose Altuve to seal the victory. Buxton also robbed Atluve of an extra base hit in the eighth inning. Buxton also hit his fifth double of the season and scored the Twins first run.
Rosario hit a go=ahead two-run triple in the ninth inning. It was Rosario’s 11th triple of the season. Rosario also hit his 16th double of the season.
Santana pitched eight strong innings and gave up one earned run on six hits. He also recorded 11 strikeouts. He’s now recorded back-to-back starts with 10 or more strikeouts, both coming against the Astros. Santana is now 4-4 on the season with a 4.93 earned run average.
The Twins will go for the series win today against the Astros ace, Dallas Keuchel. Keuchel hasn’t lost a game at Minute Maid Park this season. The Twins will send rookie Tyler Duffey to the mound to oppose Keuchel.
