The Minnesota Twins Head to Texas for Weekend Series
By Brennen Rupp

The Minnesota Twins have stumbled during the early parts of June after a sensational month of May. The Twins went 20-7 during May and have started June by going 4-6.
The Twins were just swept in a three-game series by the Kansas City Royals at Target Field. The offense has sputtered, as they haven’t scored over two runs in a game during their last five games. They’ve only scored three or more runs three times in ten games to start the month. They’ve also been shutout twice this month, after being shutout just three times during the first two months of the season.
The Twins are in the middle of a 1-5 slide and will look to get on track tonight when they start their weekend series against the Texas Rangers.
Three Players to Watch
1. During the last seven games Joe Mauer is hitting .200 and it’s no coincidence that his struggles at the plate have coincided with the Twins recent offensive struggles. If the Twins are going to get back on track they need Mauer to be better.
2. Just like Mauer, Trevor Plouffe has been struggling at the dish. He is hitting just .138 during the past seven games. The Twins need more from their number three and four hitters.
3. The Twins best starting pitcher this season has been Mike Pelrey. He is 5-2 with a 2.28 earned run average. In his last start he pitched eight scoreless inning against the Milwaukee Brewers. He has given up just three runs during his last four starts.
