Minnesota Twins Prospect Tyler Duffey Named Southern League Pitcher of Week
The Chattanooga Choo-Choo is picking up steam as the Minnesota Twins Double-A affiliate. In the first week of regular season play as part of the Twins’ organization, the Lookouts boast the Southern League’s Pitcher of the Week. The honor was bestowed upon Twins prospect Tyler Duffey for the week of April 9-19.
Duffey made two starts for the Lookouts in the time frame and put in a league high 13.2 innings. Duffey’s stat line is more than impressive. He didn’t allow a run in his two outings, he struck out 18 batters, held batters to a .130 average and sported a 0.59 WHIP.
Duffey was given the Opening Day nod in his first start of the season and struck out 10 in 6.2 innings only allowing four hits and a walk. Start two saw seven innings while only allowing two hits and striking out eight more.
The next Lookouts outing for Duffey is set for tomorrow, Tuesday. The Lookouts are currently in Mississippi for a five game series. Duffey looks to surpass his career high in scoreless innings. His current mark was set last year at 16 innings when he was a member of the Fort Myers Miracle.
If you are looking for an excuse to head to a ballgame in Chattanooga, the promotion on May 2 will surely be a hit with Minnesota Twins fans. Friday, May 2 is Harmon Killebrew Bobblehead Night at AT&T Field.
