Twins desperately need to get back in the win column vs. the Braves
The Twins desperately need to get a win today after being swept by the Philadelphia Phillies in three games. Losing tonight obviously wouldn't end their season, but a fourth-straight loss would be a tough pill to swallow for a team in the thick of the playoff race.
Despite losing their last three games, the Twins are just 1 1/2 games back of the Baltimore Orioles for the final American League Wild Card spot.
Unfortunately, the Braves are an extremely tough opponent. The Phillies were tough to beat, but the Braves are an even better team. Atlanta has the third-best record in MLB at 74-50 and has a 7 1/2 game lead over second-place Philadelphia for first place in the National League East.

Starting pitchers:
Right-hander Bailey Ober will start for the Twins tonight. The 31-year-old is 7-4 with a 4.64 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 69 strikeouts in 99 innings across 18 starts this season. His last outing went poorly, as he allowed five earned runs against the Baltimore Orioles over six innings last Tuesday.
Former Twins left-hander Martín Pérez will start for the Braves tonight. The veteran southpaw is having a strong season, posting a 2.96 ERA with a 1.15 WHIP and 80 strikeouts over 106 1/3 innings. In his last start, Pérez, 35, threw six scoreless innings against the New York Mets last Tuesday.
