Twins.TV’s new Monday Night Football-style player intros draw national buzz (for good and bad reasons)

The new addition to Twins.TV is awesome. Unfortunately, it created an opportunity for people to dunk on the Twins.

Twins.TV introduced a new addition to its broadcast yesterday: Monday Night Football-inspired player introductions.

Personally, I thought the introductions were pretty cool. While player introductions on Monday Night Football are typical, I've never seen anything like it in a baseball game. Fans may be upset with the way the Twins have operated over the past couple of seasons, but Twins.TV has undoubtedly done an outstanding job. The new player introductions showcase the broadcast team's dedication to making Twins games enjoyable to watch, whether the team wins or loses.

Twins.TV's new MNF-inspired intros are awesome- but led to national scrutiny

The Twins' new player introductions were so awesome that they gained national attention from outlets like Jomboy Media and Barstool Sports. Unfortunately, the national attention led many people to dunk on the Twins.

It sucks that such a cool addition to the broadcast led to people scrutinizing the Twins. Sure, one likely reason for the lack of people (12,569 announced attendance- but no way that many people showed up) at last night's game at Target Field is Twins fans' lack of hope regarding the team. However, it was also freezing; the temperature was in the mid-30s with a frigid wind chill.

We'll see if fan attendance improves once the weather becomes more tolerable. It should obviously improve from last night, but by how much is a mystery. If the Twins can string together some wins and make the season interesting, fans will be more willing to attend games. But if the team performs as expected, we can expect to see many empty seats at Target Field throughout the season.

It isn't fun to see negative national attention regarding our favorite team, but at least the Twins won last night by a score of 7-3. After a three-run third inning for Minnesota, the Tigers tied the game in the top half of the fourth. Luke Keaschall hit his first homer of the season, a two-run shot, in the bottom half of the inning to reclaim the lead for the Twins, and Victor Caratini added some insurance on a two-run single in the eighth. Although Joe Ryan ran into some trouble and allowed three runs, he had a great start overall; just two of the runs were earned, and he struck out seven batters across five innings.

The Twins aim to improve to 5-6 when they face the Tigers for Game 2 of the series at 6:40 CST tonight. Tarik Skubal will make the start on the mound for Detroit, and Taj Bradley is slated to start for Minnesota.
