Toronto Blue Jays designated hitter/outfielder George Springer has been placed on the 10-day injured list, the team announced. Springer exited Saturday's 7-4 loss to the Minnesota Twins after fracturing his left big toe by fouling a ball off the toe against Joe Ryan in the third inning.
Twins to face familiar White Sox foe, Eloy Jiménez, due to Blue Jays' George Springer's injury
Designated hitter Eloy Jiménez's contract was selected from Triple-A as a corresponding move. The former White Sox slugger took Springer's spot on Toronto's 26-man roster and an open spot on the organization's 40-man roster.
Jiménez is in the lineup for the Twins-Blue Jays series finale at the Rogers Centre today, batting seventh as the designated hitter.

If you're a Twins fan, you're very familiar with Jiménez. He played for the Twins' American League Central rival White Sox from 2019 to 2024 before spending the end of the 2024 season with the Baltimore Orioles and the 2025 season with the Blue Jays and Tampa Bay Rays Triple-A teams.
During his six seasons with Chicago, Jiménez slashed .270/.321/.469 (114 OPS+) with 94 homers and 291 RBI. In 59 games against the Twins, Jiménez holds a .262 batting average with 12 homers, 38 RBI and 23 runs.
Jiménez didn't play in the majors last season because he spent much of the year on the injured list and struggled when he was healthy, hitting .247/.326/.347 in 54 minor-league games. He's also primarily a designated hitter at this point in his career, and metrics show he's a poor defender.
In 43 plate appearances with Triple-A Buffalo this season, Jiménez hit .257/.372/.371 with one home run, one double and five RBI.
Jiménez will face a tough opponent on the mound today in righty Taj Bradley, who has allowed just two earned runs with 22 strikeouts in 16 2/3 innings across three starts this year.
Meanwhile, future Hall of Fame righty Max Scherzer, who has allowed three earned runs with six strikeouts in eight innings over two starts this year, is slated to make the start on the mound for the Blue Jays today.
The winner of today's game will claim the series victory, as Toronto won Game 1 on Friday, 10-4, before Minnesota won Saturday's matchup.
Notably, star center fielder Byron Buxton and catcher Ryan Jeffers are taking the day off.
