Twins RHP Joe Ryan makes rehab start with Triple-A St. Paul
Joe Ryan is one step closer to returning from the injured list. Ryan, who has been on the IL since early August due to a left glute strain, made a rehab start with the Triple-A St. Paul Saints on Tuesday night.
Ryan surrendered just one run on one hit (home run) over three innings in his rehab appearance. He allowed no walks and collected four strikeouts in the outing. His fastball averaged 91.4 mph and he threw 42 pitches.
After the All-Star Break, Ryan allowed 16 runs in 15 1/3 innings over three starts. Before the break, he posted a 2.85 ERA with 128 strikeouts across 110 1/3 innings.

RHP Matt Canterino begins rehab assignment
He's alive, folks. Canterino, a former top Twins pitching prospect, began a rehab assignment with High-A Cedar Rapids on Tuesday. Due to various injuries, Canterino, 28, hadn't recorded a professional inning since late July 2022 before Tuesday.
Canterino allowed no runs, no hits and one walk with one strikeout for Cedar Rapids on Tuesday.
Canterino has never pitched in the majors due to his numerous injuries. Across 85 minor-league innings after being drafted by the Twins in the second round in 2019, Canterino has a 1.48 ERA with 130 strikeouts and a 0.86 WHIP. He mainly relies on a mid-90s fastball and a slider.
