The 2025 MLB Draft starts on Sunday, with the first three rounds set to be completed before the remaining rounds are completed on Monday. For the Twins, they are in a favorable position in this year's draft as they will make two selections within the first 40 selections. The Twins hold the No. 17 selection in the first round and will make the No. 36 selection in the draft as part of the Competitive Balance Round A selections.

In the weeks leading up to the draft, most mock drafts have seen the Twins target college bats. Jace LaViolette, once viewed as a potential No. 1 pick in this year's draft, has been rumored to be on the Twins' radar, and would give the organization a power-hitting outfielder for a need they currently have on their Major League roster. There's also a belief that the Twins could target college infielders, who offer versatility while matching the contact-oriented approach most of their roster currently has.

One thing appears to be clear: the Twins seem to be targeting bats with their selection in the first round. Over at The Athletic, Keith Law has the Twins selecting high school shortstop Daniel Pierce with their first-round selection. Law didn't offer much on Pierce, specifically, but did provide some intel on what he's hearing about the Twins' draft intentions.

"I’ve heard Pierce anywhere from picks 12 to 20, with teams beyond that expecting him to be gone. The Twins seem to be more on position players than pitchers; I think Gavin Kilen, Marek Houston and even Steele Hall might be fits here," Law mentions.

Prospect surge puts surprise 2025 name in play for Twins in new mock

Kilen and Houston are two names who have been connected to the Twins, and both are college bats who could rise quickly through any farm system they are added to. Pierce, a high school bat, likely wouldn't be on the same accelerated timeline.

That said, as part of pre-draft evaluations, Pierce has drawn comparisons to Bobby Witt Jr. Given that comparison, the potential may be too high for the Twins to pass up if Pierce is still on the board when they are on the clock in the first round.
