Yesterday was an awful day for the Minnesota Twins. After the Twins blew a 4-0 lead to the Toronto Blue Jays, who won 10-4, Twins.TV's Audra Martin reported that third baseman Royce Lewis and right-handed reliever Cody Laweryson were headed to the injured list. Minnesota officially placed the two on the IL this morning, and recalled right-handed pitcher Andrew Morris and utilityman Ryan Kreidler as corresponding moves.

Kreidler profiles as a backup, so expect plenty of Tristan Gray at third base.
Andrew Morris, a career-long starter, can serve as a multi-inning reliever.https://t.co/ydTIbCSunm
Lewis has a left knee sprain, while Laweryson has a right forearm strain. The timelines for both players are unknown.
Lewis suffered the sprain during Thursday's victory against the Detroit Tigers at Target Field. He appeared hurt while limping after a swinging strike in his last at-bat of the game. He remained in the contest and collected an infield single in the at-bat before finishing the game at third base. The Minnesota Star Tribune's Bobby Nightengale reported that Lewis had imaging yesterday that revealed the sprain.
This marks the ninth time Lewis has landed on the injured list in his four-year MLB career. He's suffered a torn ACL on his right knee twice and numerous left leg injuries, including two hamstring strains last season.
After a monster rookie season in 2023, Lewis regressed significantly over the last two seasons while dealing with his injuries. He began this season strong, hitting .222/.378/.444 (140 OPS+) with two homers, two doubles, eight RBI and a pair of stolen bases in 12 games. He's already been worth half as much bWAR this year (0.3) as last season (0.6).
Laweryson, 27, made his first Opening Day roster this season. He's allowed four runs (three earned) in 6 1/3 innings with eight strikeouts this year.
Kreidler, a right-handed hitter, has logged MLB innings at shortstop, third base, second base, center field and left field. As Gleeman stated, Tristan Gray, who is slashing .263/.318/.474 (130 OPS+) in 23 plate appearances this season with a grand slam, double and eight RBI, will likely play a lot of third base in Lewis' absence.
As for Morris, the 24-year-old righty is the Twins' No. 13th-ranked prospect per MLB Pipeline. He has yet to make his MLB debut.
Morris, a 2022 fourth-round pick out of Texas Tech, will likely serve as a long reliever with the Twins. His four-seam fastball sits in the mid-90s and has reached 99 mph. His pitch arsenal also includes a slider, a two-seamer, a low-90s cutter, a mid-70s curveball and an upper-80s changeup.
