Twins RHP Bailey Ober returns from IL, makes start vs. Guardians

Right-hander Bailey Ober, who has been on the IL since May 31 with a right flexor strain in his elbow, returned from the injured list and made the start against the Cleveland Guardians on Thursday. Before his Thursday start, Ober had a 4.59 ERA and 1.22 WHIP with 46 strikeouts in 66 2/3 innings over 12 starts this year.

Before being reinstated, Ober made two rehab appearances, one with High-A Cedar Rapids and one with Triple-A St. Paul.

Twins RHP Marco Raya lands on IL

Unfortunately, the Twins placed rookie right-hander Marco Raya on the 15-day IL with a right shoulder impingement as a corresponding move to reinstating Ober, the team announced. In six innings across three appearances with Minnesota, Raya has posted a 3.00 ERA with four strikeouts and three walks.

Twins catcher Ryan Jeffers back with team after rehab assignment

Aaron Gleeman of AaronGleeman.com reported that catcher Ryan Jeffers was in the Twins' clubhouse on Thursday morning after finishing his rehab assignment with Triple-A St. Paul. The Twins didn't activate Jeffers ahead of Thursday's game at Target Field. It seems likely he will be reinstated before Friday's home game against the Los Angeles Angels.

Jeffers, who has been out since mid-May with a broken left hamate bone, has slashed a remarkable .295/.408/.541 (165 wRC+) with seven home runs and 26 RBI over 37 games this season.

During his rehab assignment, Jeffers went 6-for-16 with two home runs, one double, two walks and two RBI.

Twins LHP Anthony Banda to miss rest of season

Left-hander Anthony Banda will be out for the rest of the 2026 season, according to The Athletic's Dan Hayes. The former Dodger had surgery to repair his lat and expects to be ready for spring training.

The Twins placed Banda on the IL with a lat strain late last month. He had a rough start to the season, but had been on a hot streak before landing on the IL, recording a 1.93 ERA over 9 1/3 innings in June.

"No timeline" for Twins RHP Mick Abel

Hayes reported on X that right-hander Mick Abel had the bone in his elbow shaved. There is no timeline on his return, but he is "optimistic."

Abel has been on the IL since April 20. He began a rehab assignment last month but was shut down after suffering a setback. The right-hander threw 13 scoreless innings over his final two starts before being placed on the IL.

Twins LHP Connor Prielipp placed on IL

Minnesota placed left-hander Connor Prielipp on the 15-day IL on Thursday morning with a left middle finger blister. The Twins recalled left-hander Kendry Rojas from Triple-A St. Paul as a corresponding move. With the All-Star break next week, Prielipp could end up missing just one or two starts.
