Minnesota Twins place Byron Buxton on IL
The Twins have placed star center fielder Byron Buxton on the 10-day injured list with right hip impingement, the team announced. As a corresponding move, Minnesota recalled infielder Tristan Gray from Triple-A St. Paul.
The Twins removed Buxton from Tuesday night's game due to his injury. This marks the second time Buxton has been placed on the IL with a hip issue. Since coming off the IL last week, Buxton has gone just 4-for-25 in seven games. The center fielder is slashing .263/.320/.544 (136 wRC+) with 25 home runs and 45 RBI in 82 games this year.
Gray, 30, had been with the Twins all season before being optioned to the Saints on July 20. He has mainly played shortstop but has logged innings at the other three infield positions for Minnesota as well. The utilityman has hit just .232/.271/.333 in 63 games with the Twins this year.
Emmanuel Rodríguez begins rehab assignment
Outfield prospect Emmanuel Rodríguez began a rehab assignment with Single-A Fort Myers on Tuesday. He had been on the injured list since May 6 due to a UCL tear in his left thumb.
Rodríguez, the Twins' No. 4 overall prospect per MLB Pipeline, went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts for Fort Myers on Tuesday.
In 25 games with the Saints this season, Rodríguez has hit .247/.417/.506 with six home runs and 18 RBI.
Enrique Jimenez likely out for rest of season
Twins catching prospect Enrique Jimenez is likely out for the rest of the season after an MRI revealed a significant left hamstring strain, according to Theodore Tollefson of Zone Coverage Minnesota.

Catcher Enrique Jimenez pulled his left hamstring in a game Friday night. An MRI revealed a 'significant strain' that will likely end the season for the 20-year-old.
Last summer, the Twins acquired Jimenez, 20, from the Detroit Tigers for Chris Paddack and Randy Dobnak, who is set to pitch for the Kansas City Royals against the Twins at Target Field on Wednesday night. He has hit .241/.397/.409 in 40 minor-league games this year.
Charlee Soto "back on throwing progression"
Right-handed Twins pitching prospect Charlee Soto, Minnesota's No. 12 overall prospect, is back on a throwing progression, per Tollefson.
Soto has been injured often since being drafted by the Twins in 2023. He threw 74 innings in 2024. Since then, he has thrown just 15 2/3 innings.

Right-hander Riley Quick, whom ESPN ranks as the Twins' best pitching prospect, threw a bullpen this weekend and will make his next start.

Riley Quick is battling blisters on two fingers. He threw a bullpen this weekend without issue and will make his next start.
Quick hasn't made an appearance since July 18. He has a 3.68 ERA with 78 strikeouts over 51 1/3 innings this year.
