Twins "feeling good" about RHP Bailey Ober's MRI results

The Twins placed Ober on the 15-day injured list with right elbow inflammation on Sunday after the right-hander allowed eight runs (seven earned) in 4 2/3 innings against the Pittsburgh Pirates the day before. On Monday night, The Athletic's Dan Hayes revealed Ober has a mild flexor strain and will be shut down for 10-14 days. Bobby Nightengale of The Minnesota Star Tribune revealed that Ober will likely miss all of June, but fans should still be happy the injury isn't more serious.

RHP Mick Abel scheduled for live batting practice

Abel, who has been on the IL since April 20 due to elbow and triceps issues, is scheduled to throw two innings of live batting practice on Thursday, per Hayes.

LHP Kendry Rojas could be cleared to throw this week

Rojas could be cleared to throw as early as Tuesday or Wednesday, according to Hayes. Minnesota placed Rojas on the 15-day injured list with left triceps inflammation after he was scratched from a scheduled start on Thursday due to left elbow soreness. Rojas, a rookie, has a 1.26 ERA with 14 strikeouts in 14 1/3 innings across five appearances (one start) for the Twins this season.

Twins' No. 1 prospect Walker Jenkins scheduled to take live batting practice

Zone Coverage's Theodore Tollefson reported that Jenkins, an outfielder, is scheduled to take live batting practice in Fort Myers this week.

Jenkins, MLB Pipeline's No. 11 overall prospect, was placed on the IL with a left shoulder sprain on May 5. In 25 games with Triple-A St. Paul this season, Jenkins has hit .256/.396/.389 with two homers, nine RBI and five stolen bases.

RHP Cole Sands to begin rehab assignment with Triple-A St. Paul

Sands, who has been on the IL since May 2 due to a right forearm strain, will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A St. Paul on Tuesday, according to multiple reports.

Before landing on the IL, Sands posted a less-than-ideal 4.63 ERA and a 4.45 FIP with a 22.0% strikeout rate and an 8.0% walk rate across 11 2/3 innings. However, he was likely dealing with his injury during his last outing on April 28, where he allowed two runs on three hits (one homer) across 2/3 of an inning. Before his last appearance, Sands had a 3.27 ERA and a 3.53 FIP in 10 2/3 innings.

RHP David Festa begins throwing in Fort Myers

Festa threw in Fort Myers on Monday, per Tollefson. The right-hander isn't expected to return before the All-Star break, Nightengale reported about two weeks ago.
