The Minnesota Twins have parted ways with assistant general manager Daniel Adler, according to AaronGleeman.com's Aaron Gleeman. Former Twins president Derek Falvey hired Adler in 2017 as director of baseball operations and promoted him to assistant general manager in 2019. Gleeman wrote that Adler is expected to pursue other opportunities.
It's uncertain whether the Twins will replace Adler. They still have three assistant general managers: Alex Hassan, Sean Johnson and Josh Kalk.
According to The Athletic's Dan Hayes, Falvey promoted Adler to a VP role last season that included work in both business and baseball operations. After Falvey left over the offseason, Adler no longer helped with business operations, according to Hayes. Controlling owner Tom Pohlad took over Adler's duties in business operations, while Adler was left with a reduced role in baseball operations.

Adler's departure joins the list of the Twins' major organizational changes that began last offseason. After the Twins missed the postseason in back-to-back years following the magical 2023 season, Tom Pohlad succeeded his younger brother Joe as Minnesota's controlling owner. A change was much needed, as Joe had become widely unpopular among Twins Territory after significantly slashing payroll following a postseason series victory in 2023. The trade deadline fire sale didn't help his image, either.
Granted, it's not like Tom being in charge led the Twins to spend big in the offseason. In fact, Minnesota entered 2026 with the lowest payroll since 2014. However, having Tom succeed Joe was still a smart move, as the older brother is much better at creating a not-terrible public image. Joe rarely spoke to the media, while Tom has done so frequently since taking over.
Falvey's departure was another major organizational change last offseason. The Twins hired Falvey to lead the baseball operations department in October 2016. After spending most of the year out of baseball, Falvey recently signed a contract with the New York Mets to work for his former Cleveland coworker David Stearns.
Minnesota also fired manager Rocco Baldelli over the offseason, replacing him with former Pirates skipper Derek Shelton.
Adler's departure joins the long list of the Twins' major organizational changes over the past year or so. One has to wonder if more front office changes are coming. Who knows? Maybe general manager Jeremy Zoll will be replaced as the head of baseball operations this offseason.
