The Minnesota Twins made their first move of the offseason, re-signing right-handed pitcher Chris Vallimont to a minor-league deal, according to KSTP's Darren Wolfson. Minnesota signed Vallimont, 29, to a minor-league contract in mid-June after an Atlantic League stint. He recorded a 4.33 ERA and a 1.34 WHIP while striking out 68 in 70 2/3 innings across 18 outings (15 starts) at Double-A Wichita this past season. The right-hander made one big-league appearance with the Baltimore Orioles in 2023.

This is simply a depth move for Minnesota. The organization likely doesn't plan for Vallimont to be a major contributor to the big-league team. If the Twins suffer numerous injuries, then Vallimont could return to the majors with Minnesota.
If the expected lockout extends through the regular season, Vallimont will still be eligible to play minor-league baseball since he isn't on the 40-man roster.
Looking at Minnesota Twins RHP Chris Vallimont's MLB career
The Miami Marlins selected Vallimont in the fifth round of the 2018 MLB Draft out of Mercyhurst University in Erie, Pa. The Marlins traded Vallimont and right-hander Sergio Romo to the Twins at the 2019 trade deadline for first baseman Lewin Diaz and a player to be named later.
The Twins got rid of Vallimont in May 2022, designating the right-hander for assignment. The Orioles claimed him off waivers from the Twins.
Vallimont finally made his MLB debut with the Orioles in July 2023, making just one appearance for the club before being designated for assignment. The Orioles then traded him to the Cleveland Guardians for cash.
The Guardians designated Vallimont for assignment about a month later. He cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A.
Vallimont elected free agency at the end of the 2023 season. He spent the 2024 season between the Los Angeles Dodgers organization and the Atlantic League.
In 2025, Vallimont pitched in the Atlantic League and the Mexican League. He also pitched in Puerto Rico in the 2025-26 season before rejoining the Atlantic League in 2026. He posted a 3.99 ERA over seven Independent League starts in 2026 before rejoining the Twins organization on a minor-league deal.
Throughout his minor-league career, Vallimont has posted a 5.19 ERA with 598 strikeouts and 271 walks over 553 2/3 innings.
In his lone big-league appearance, Vallimont showcased three pitches: a low-80s slider (7 pitches), a mid-90s four-seam fastball (3 pitches) and a mid-80s changeup (1 pitch).
