Predicting which Twins top prospect in Spring Breakout will earn the first call-up

It has to be him.

We've seen enough. Minnesota Twins fans are 100 percent ready for Emmanuel Rodriguez to be called up to the big leagues in 2026. And that should be soon — sooner than any other Twins farmhand.

Freshly turned 23 years old, Minnesota's No. 4 prospect has put together a dream spring, and he further cemented that stardom at the Spring Breakout game against the Phillies on March 19.

Rodriguez laced a single in the third inning at 115.6 MPH, then a triple in the fourth inning at 113.2 MPH. Rodriguez is literally smoking the baseball this spring. He is too good for minor league pitching. There's no reason to keep him in affiliated ball for long. We are ready for him.

Emmanuel Rodriguez needs to be the first Twins prospect promoted to the majors in 2026

More eyes were likely on the Spring Breakout game than any other spring contest, but Rodriguez has been mashing at a pace that is too good for an attempt to justify keeping him off the Twins' roster. In 11 games, Rodriguez produced a 1.318 OPS with two home runs, two doubles, four RBIs, and a pair of walks.

We saw flashes of greatness from Rodriguez last season with Triple-A St. Paul, and is already building off that foundation. In 52 games, he drew 45 walks and drove in 27 RBIs, producing a .953 OPS with two outs and runners in scoring position. He jumped on right-handed pitching, batting .297. He struggled against lefties, ending the season with a .214 clip. Rodriguez showed improvement in that area this spring, though. He has a home run off a southpaw, and is batting 2-for-7 overall (.286). It's a step in the right direction.

There is also more room on the depth chart for Rodriguez to sneak in with the latest injury update. Austin Martin suffered a concussion in a spring game this week, so it's difficult to map out how long he will be on the shelf. An injury like this one is enough for the Twins to call in the reinforcements. Rodriguez should get the call before anyone else.

One other prospect to look out for is Gabriel Gonzalez. The Twins' No. 7 prospect, also an outfielder, is obliterating the competition this spring. Gonzalez, 22, is hitting .500 in 11 games with a home run and four RBIs. Gonzalez, who batted .316 with Triple-A St. Paul in 34 games last season, has hit in bunches this spring, whereas Rodriguez has been good for about one hit per game.

Either way, both young outfielders have made a name for themselves at Twins spring training. Maybe we see both of them called up in 2026. They deserve it.
