Twins get walked off by Giants on a totally bizarre inside-the-park home run

Well that was embarrassing.

If anyone was hoping the Minnesota Twins would glide into the All-Star Break riding a high, those dreams were dashed on Sunday afternoon.

Minnesota lost not only the game but the series to San Francisco in what has to be one of the most bizarre walk-offs we've seen in a while. After the Twins tied things up in the top of the ninth inning, Mike Yastrzemski launched a triple toward Manuel Margot in centerfield.

Rather than stop at third, Yastrzemski trotted home when Brooks Lee cut the throw off and sailed it into the Giants dugout.

Twins lose to Giants on a totally bizarre walk-off home run

Subjectively this was a brital way for the Twins to lose, especially since Lee was at the heart of making it happen. Objectively, having a game end like this was pretty entertaining.

It's a shame for both Margot and Lee, as it's not really a great reflection of how they've been playing as of late.

We all know the sort of tear Lee has been on ever since getting called up at the beginning of July. He's lived up to the hype he carried with him to the majors, and has been on a Royce Lewis level in terms of how he's helped Minnesota's offense. He's even made some great defensive plays, but he made two bad decisions in this series against the Giants that ultimately led to bad losses.

Margot has been a sore subject for Twins fans all season, but he had himself a pretty great game on Sunday. He broke up Blake Snell's perfect game in the seventh inning and later tied the game with a two-run home run in the ninth.

It wasn't Margot's fault that Lee air mailed his throw to third base, but his involvement in the play is a strange way to tie a bow around his afternoon.
