It's been a tough season so far for Kyle Farmer, but a little break might be exactly what he needs. The MLB All-Star Game is next week, which will provide a natural break in the schedule, but Farmer is getting a head start on the rest after being placed on the IL with a shoulder injury.

On Friday the Twins announced that Farmer was being placed on the 10-day IL, a move that cleared the way for Jair Camargo to get recalled from Triple-A.

It will mark Camargo's second stint with the Twins after he made his debut back in April, and could be a chance for him to prove he belongs as part of this second youth movement wave washing over Minnesota's roster.

Camargo has his work cut out, as the sample size in his debut and he didn't really leave that great of an impression. In two games, Camargo failed to get a hit but did reach base on a walk and eventually scored a run.

He's not among the team's prized top prospects, but he was thought highly enough last winter that the Twins added him to the 40-man roster to protect him from the Rule 5 Draft. Camargo hit .304 in six games at Single-A Fort Myers but dipped to slashing .215/.277/.431 with St. Paul after moving up.

With questions surrounding the catcher situation, it's worth calling Camargo up to see what he can do or if he can show the Twins something the latch onto.

Ryan Jeffers is the favored starter and has been part of the Twins resurgent offense. Christian Vazquez is hitting just .199 this year, but he's excelled defensively where Jeffers has struggled at times.

There's also the chance that Camargo doesn;t factor into the catcher depth chart at all. Minnesota might want to try him at first base where he'd platoon with Carlos Santana, or plug him in as outfield depth with his experience playing left field.

The point is, with Farmer hitting the IL it presents the Twins with an opportunity to poke and prod another potential piece of the youth movement. Camargo was kept around during the Rule 5 Draft for a reason, but now it's on him to show Minnesota they made the right call.
