Whatever Rocco Baldelli said to the Minnesota Twins after an embarssing three-game sweep by the Atlanta Braves seems to be working. Either it’s something Rocco said, whatever happened behind closed doors in the players-only meeting, or there’s just something in the Maryland water, but the Twins have looked like a completely different team over the last few games.
The question is whether or not it’s a sustainable change or simply a hard overcorrection to a pitiful stretch of games.
Minnesota limped into this weekend series against the Baltimore Orioles having slipped back under .500 and out of first place in the AL Central. Beyond how terrible the optics of that looks, things were even worse on the field. The Twins offense has been an utter disappointment this year, headlined by consistent struggles by Carlos Correa and Byron Buxton.
Those two guys slumping has created a chain reaction that impacts the rest of the lineup, and magnifies slums by guys like Max Kepler and Joey Gallo.
However, when Buxton and Correa are hot the rest of the offense gets lifted with them.
That’s what Twins fans are hoping to see continue, as it appears the team is starting to pull itself out of whatever funk has been bogging things down so far this season.
How to watch the Minnesota Twins vs. Baltimore Orioles today (July 2, 2023)
Whenever the Minnesota Twins end up on a network other than Bally Sports North, the irony ends up being that it actually makes it easier to watch the game. Twins fans are no strangers to the hoops everyone has to jump through in order to watch a game locally, and even then you still might not be able to see it.
Today’s game is another national television exclusive, but it’s the first time it won’t be of the Apple TV+ variety. Instead, the Twins game will air on Peacock which is NBC’s official streaming service.
While the game is being streamed exclusively on Peacock, it is not going to be simulcast on NBC. This means you have to be subscribed to Peacock in order to watch today’s game.
