Two things are happening right now with the Minnesota Twins that we haven’t seen for a while.
It’s been since 2004 that Twins fans have watched the team win a playoff game, a miserable streak that seems as poised to end this year as it ever has before. Minnesota has never had starting pitching as strong as it has now in a while, and the offense is starting to click across the board at the right time.
Not to mention, the Twins have a slew of young players who are giving us all a glimpse into a bright future. Royce Lewis looks every bit like the next face of the franchise, Edouard Julien and Matt Wallner are living up to the hype, and Joe Ryan is a future ace.
The other thing that’s happening is something fans are not used to see — the Twins are cool.
Guys like Lewis and Julien are getting national attention, and the Twins still have players like Byron Buxton and Carlos Correa who are true superstar names. They also have Jhoan Duran, the flamethrowing closer who is an all-around experience to behold.
Duran is known for his ability to clock 104 mph pitches, but the wow-factor goes beyond that. The Twins have leaned all the way into his aura and helped produce one of the coolest bullpen intros in all of baseball.
Mets TV broadcast aired Jhoan Duran’s insane bullpen intro (Video)
On Friday night, with the New York Mets in town, the SNY broadcast took time to capture Duran’s enterance and air it for fans watching at home. This is cool a number of different levels, but one of the best things about it is that fans everywhere can now bask in the glory of Duran’s intro.
Just watch:
Twins fans who have attended games at Target Field know how cool Duran’s intro is, but not everyone has been lucky enough to catch it. More than that, the fact that the Mets broadcast build airtime around an opposing pitcher’s bullpen entrance just goes to show how intense the Cool Factor of it is.
Of course, the Mets would know a thing or two about a closer having an iconic bullpen intro.
Jhoan Duran walkout song
The whole theatricality of the intro is cool, and you’ll probably find yourself humming Duran’s walkout song well after the game is over.
If you’re looking for Jhoan Duran’s walkout song, it’s “Nunca Creyeron” by Wilmer Roberts. Feel free to add that bad boy to your Spotify playlist and fire it up at the gym, or when you’re walking out the door for work, or into the bar for a first date.
