Minnesota Twins vs. Oakland A's start time, lineups, TV Channel (June 13th)
The Twins are hoping to extend their winning ways, starting with the first of four games against the lowly Oakland A's.
After a 17-run explosion by the Minnesota Twins on Wednesday, fans are hoping that the team has turned the corner on another winning streak. The team has been nothing if not streaky, vascilating between extreme highs and crushing lows -- the former of which is where the team is at right now.
The Twins dropped a series in Pittsburgh over the weekend but have seemingly corrected course as it hopefuly glides through an incredibly easy stretch of the schedule. Minnesota won a series against the Rockies and now have four game against Oakland that should help gain some ground in the AL Central race.
It's all easier said than done, but things are set up for the Twins to have an impressive bounceback series.
Twins vs. A's starting pitchers, June 13th
Hoping to keep the good vibes going, Joe Ryan (4-5, 3.30 ERA) will be on the mound for the Twins. So far this season Ryan has begun developing into the ace that Minnesota has been hoping he'd become, something that has been maginfied with the struggles of Pablo Lopez.
In an indeal world, Lopez and Ryan are firing on all cylinders and are Batman and Robin at the top of the rotation. The rise of Simeon Woods Richardson sweetens the pot, as does potential consistency from Bailey Ober and Chris Paddack.
Ryan's record might not reflect his dominance, but once glance at his 0.97 WHIP changes perceptions in a pretty big way. Failing to get proper offensive support is the curse of being a Twins pitcher, and it seems Ryan has inherited that from Sonny Gray last season.
Another smothering performance on Thursday against the A's might not only keep the good vibes rolling but could start building a Cy Young case for Ryan.
Menawhile, Oakland will be sending out Luis Medina (0-1, 5.23 ERA) in what Minnesota is hoping doesn't turn into a trap game. Medina hasn't been that impressive this season, but neither has much else with the A's. Just like we saw in Pittsburgh, and on Tuesday against the Rockies, the Twins are capable of blowing games they otherwise should control.
Minnesota Twins lineup vs. A's, June 13th
After sending down Alex Kirilloff to St. Paul, the Twins recalled Austin Martin and already have him in the lineup. Martin will be making his return to the MLB roster as the No. 9 hitter on Thusday night. He'll also be playing left field, which indicates he's truly a one-to-one replacement for Kirilloff and not simply a bench body that got called up.
Here's what the Twins are rolling with tonight for their lineup against Oakland:
- Willi Castro, 2B
- Trevor Larnach, DH
- Royce Lewis, 3B
- Max Kepler, RF
- Carlos Correa, SS
- Carlos Santana, 1B
- Byron Buxton, CF
- Ryan Jeffers, C
- Austin Martin, LF
