It seems that something as simple as watching the Minnesota Twins on television has been one of the hardest things for fans to do.

Even further back than all of the Bally Sports North drama from this past month, Twins games have been absurdly inaccessible to the only people who are hoping to catch the action. Diamond Sports Group going bankrupt last year cast serious doubt over how and where games would be broadcast, and another blow was delivered at the beginning of May when Comcast dropped Bally Sports from its cable package.

It wasn’t just Twins fans who felt that one, as Comcast’s move to drop Bally Sports was made at the national level. The chaos has been a slow moving train that the Twins have inexcplicably been able to get out of the way of, and greed has ended up prevailing while fans suffer a blackout during a time when the team is actually worth watching.

The future is still uncertain when it comes to how the Twins will be broadcast locally, but the clouds are parting for a brief moment tonight. Friday Night Baseball returned to Apple TV+ earlier this season and Friday night is when the Twins will make their debut.

How to watch the Minnesota Twins vs. Cleveland Guardians tonight (May 17, 2024)

Unfortunately for Twins fans, the team isn’t nearly as watchable as they were a week ago. Things are still generally going well, but a series sweep by the Yankees in which Minnesota scored one run isn’t exactly in line with the vibes that had been established.

That’s what makes this weekend’s series against Cleveland so much more important. The Twins pulled themselves back into the AL Central race thanks to a 12–game winning streak and going 22-5 over their last stretch of games.

Cleveland beat the Twins up pretty bad in their first series, though, even with one of the games getting rained out. Minnesota has a chance to get things back on track on Friday night and get the vibes rolling again, which will be more important than ever.
