Minnesota Twins vs. Arizona Diamondbacks start time, lineups, TV Channel (June 26th)
The Twins are hoping to bounce back from a tough series opener loss to the Diamondbacks on Wednesday night.
Tuesday night didn't go the way the Minnesota Twins would have liked, but the team showed all the right fight in trying to claw its way to a comeback win.
It almost happened, too, with Ryan Jeffers launching a three-run home run to tie the game late, only to have a usually reliable bullpen allow a go-ahead run an inning later. A loss is a loss, but it's hard to be too upset over the way Minnesota lost especially given the way the team previously folded like a cheap poker table in the same position.
The Twins have been down 4-1 in games before, but we're starting to see a trend over the last month of the team finding ways to picks itself up off the mat. That hadn't really been the case, and it's a small victory to take away despite the dissapointing loss.
Minnesota gets a chance to make up for things on Wednesday night and get back on track.
Twins vs. Diamondbacks starting pitchers, June 26th
It will be Simeon Woods Richardson (2-1, 3.26 ERA) on the mound for Minnesota on Wednesday night. Despite the loss, he has some big shoes to fill after Joe Ryan looked brilliant after a bumpy start to the game. Ryan allowed four runs before the second inning was over, but followed it up by retiring the next 13 straight batters.
Woods Richardson isn't on the level of Ryan in terms of being viewed as a potential ace of the staff, but he's ascending in his own right. After getting called up for a spot start in a doubleheader back in April, Woods Richardson has settled into an important role in the rotation and is firmly a piece of the future right now.
He hasn't blown batters away with his stuff, but Woods Richardson carries a 1.14 WHIP into his start tonight, and continues to develop as a middle rotation star. It's been a incredible to watch him bounce back from a couple of rough false starts over the last two seasons, and a solid outing on Wedensday will be exactly what the Twins need all around.
For Arizona, Ryne Nelson (5-5, 5.18 ERA) will be on the bump looking to grab another game for the D-Backs. Brandon Pfaadt went on Tuesday and shut the Twins down in the first part of the game before hemmoraging runs in the middle innings and getting chased. Minnesota's offense woke up, and hopefully will keep things going strong to start against Nelson.
